Mistakes That Made Me, the podcast hosted by ZMC Podcasts client Eman Ismail, has won Best New Podcast and Best Business Podcast awards from the Black Podcasting Awards for 2023, which were revealed on Sunday, Sept. 24.
“Thank you so much to the judges who voted for the show! Thank you to my podcast producer Zuri Berry. Thank you to my amazing podcast guests! And thank you to all listeners and supporters,” Eman wrote on LinkedIn. “I truly didn’t expect to win. There were such great podcasts in both the categories I was nominated for. Congrats to all the nominees too!”
Eman is the owner of Eman Copy Co. She is an expert copywriter and email strategist. And she’s also a superb marketer. Through Mistakes That Made Me, Eman asks extraordinary business owners to share their biggest business mistakes and then probes how they found a way to overcome those stumbles and what they learned along the way. It’s a concept that Eman conceived, and I helped sharpen and produce.
Earlier this year, I talked with Eman for a special episode of Podcasting with Zuri about the success of her podcast.
“People love it and feel really strongly about it because I think it’s very different from other podcasts out there,” Eman said. “I think the strong theme, the strong concept, makes it super memorable for people. Like it’s something we’re not really used to. I think it has a strong, even proposition.
“And so that I think people are taken aback by it, in a good way. And then people absolutely love the guests and the stories and the idea that these super successful people have made mistakes and are actually on this show sharing their mistakes. And this isn’t like a superficial sharing of the mistake. We sit down and talk for usually an hour and a half about how much of a mistake this mistake really was. So, people love that honesty and that vulnerability that we often don’t get to see from people that we really look up to and that we see as being really successful business owners.”
I’m ecstatic that Eman’s hard work continues to be recognized for its storytelling, the production of the show, and the wonderful guests who have shared their lows and how they bounced back.
